The Katona József Theatre company announces with deep regret that in the 89th year of his life, Vilmos Kun a founding member of the Katona József Theatre, and Merited Artist recipient passed away September 16.
Vilmos Kun at the age of 29, in 1955, graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts and began his career at the Theatre of Győr Kisfaludy. He worked at the Csiki Gergely Theatre in Kaposvár, the Csokonai Theatre in Szolnok Szigliget Theatre and the National Theatre as an actor.
His career was characterized by high quality performances, and from the beginning of his career he had a significant presence in the productions of a soldier, and emblematic performances as the troupe traveled around the world. Lots of motion pictures, radio and simultaneous roles are connected to his name, a wider audience knew him from in the packed novel entitled Neighbors.
The actor was last seen onstage by an audience, during his lecture on Medical history the fall of 2014, with his wife, Eve Olsavszky. A total of 67 pieces were included together.
The actor starred in most of Gabor Zsámbéki works. Vilmos Kun’s most important roles as an soldier: Cicero (Shakespeare: Julius Caesar); Firsz (Chekhov: The Cherry Orchard); Vova (Jerofejev: Walpurgis Night); Old Man (Spiró: clink); Jegoruska (Chekhov: Ivanov); Nestor (Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida); Albert K (Vinnai-Bodo: Ledarálnakeltűntem); Jovic (Srbljanović: Locusts).
