The actress and comedian Sylvie Joly has died.

The actress and humorist Sylvie Joly, suffering with Parkinson's disease for several years, died Friday, September 4 at the age of 80 years, said her husband, Pierre Vitry. "She died of cardiac arrest late night at our home in Paris," he said.
Sylvie Joly was first a lawyer before turning to comic career, with a one-woman show where she stood out by a ferocious sense of humor. She revealed her illness, described as "severe" but "not necessarily fatal", in an autobiography by her husband entitled That's your real name? (Flammarion) and published on the eve of her 76th birthday, in 2010.
The actress collaborated in the 1970s with directors like Yves Robert, Bertrand Blier, Jean-Pierre Mocky and Claude Lelouch. In the theater, she starred in plays by Ionesco, Chekhov or Marivaux and was directed by Tania Balachova and Georges Wilson. Among her best-known performances include Cigale et la Joly, Ne riez jamais d’une femme qui tombe, La Vie, C’est pas de la rigolade and Best of.
