RIP Günter Junghans

Günter Junghans played in "Tatort" and "Police 110" in the ARD series "Weissensee" and in Helmut Dietl "Schtonk". The Leipzig also was one of the character actors of Defa. Now he has died at the age of 73 years.

Günter Junghans participated in more than 130 film and television and has appeared in many character roles of DEFA. Among his most important early work includes the anti-war film "The Adventures of Werner Holt" (1965). In Rainer Simons of the GDR leadership forbidden cinema drama "Jadup and Boel" (1980), are discussed in the everyday shortcomings of socialism, Junghans played on the side of Kurt Bowe and Gudrun Ritter.
 
Junghans was born on 14 July 1941 in Leipzig. After finishing school he did an apprenticeship as a machinist in the VEB loading and transport system Leipzig plant. From 1959 to 1964 Junghans then studied acting at the Academy of German cinema in Potsdam-Babelsberg.
 
In addition to his film career, he was more than 25 years a member of the Ensemble of the Berliner Volksbühne. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the actor "Police 110" episodes occurred among others in Helmut Dietl's "Schtonk!" In "Klemperer" by Andreas Kleinert and several "crime scene" and. In the ARD series "Weissensee" he played the role of Colonel General Koweitz.
 
On Sunday Günter Junghans died after a short illness in Berlin, as the actresses Astrid Rahn Agency announced. He was 73 years old.
