Rome, farewell to the actor Carlo Delle Piane: he worked with the greats of Italian cinema, from Totò to Pupi Avati

Carlo Delle Piane died in Rome at the age of 83. His wife, Anna Crispino, reported. The actor had recently celebrated his 70-year career, during which he had worked with some of the most important Italian directors and interpreters, recalling the multiple successes alongside Alberto Sordi, Aldo Fabrizi, Totò, De Sica and many others, until the highly successful decade with Pupi Avati .
Still recovering from the cerebral hemorrhage that struck him in January 2015 which that had brought him into the coma, he had celebrated with his loving wife, the singer Anna Crispino, the 70-year career last year at the Pesaro cinema exhibition. 110 films in the assets, of which about fifteen under the direction of his great friend Pupi Avati, Delle Piane had made his first film when he was only 12 years old.
"I was in junior high at the Pius XI in Rome and the assistants of the director Duilio Coletti arrived there, looking for boys for the film Cuore among the students. I, who was always at the last desk and didn't do too well at school, didn't understand who they were, I thought they were going to question me and I almost hid. But I was chosen, even though at the time I looked like a small extraterrestrial with thin slender legs. Since then I found myself working with great artists, but I didn't give them importance, for me cinema was a way to not go to school and put some money in my pocket," he said.
One film after another for him, usually comedies brilliant and he starred with everyone, Sordi, Totò, Gassman, Fabrizi, directed by De Sica, Vadim, Steno, Monicelli, Polanski and Corbucci. But his great friend was Aldo Fabrizi, "one not too loved by his colleagues for his frankness. I did with him the Passaguai family and then Rugantino di Garinei and Giovannini. I also remember that Fabrizi used to empty a rosette and fill it with rigatoni to the sauce. His reference actor Buster Keaton : "I wanted to be like him. I liked his dryness in acting, his mania in stealing". Finally for Carlo Delle Piane the therapy for everything, also for his idiosyncrasy in being touched, was in the work: "When I'm on the set I do everything I touch embrace I open the doors".
