Barry Coe, 84, of Sun Valley, Idaho, passed away in Palm Desert, Calif., on July 16, 2019. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS—a bone marrow disease).

Barry, whose birth name was Barry Clark Heacock, was born in Santa Monica, Calif., at St. John’s Hospital on Nov. 26 1934. He survived his parents, Francis Elmer Heacock and Jean Elizabeth Shea Heacock and two sisters, Gayle and Beverly Heacock. Barry had the privilege of having a loving stepfather, Joseph Coe (Barry was also known as Joseph Spalding Coe during his youth.)

As a boy, Barry traveled with his family to live in many parts of the United States and Canada. He attended high school in Los Alamos, N.M., after which he attended USC.

Barry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jorunn Kristiansen Coe “UE,” whom he met in the summer of 1959, beginning a love-at-first-sight love affair continuing to his last breath.  Barry is also survived by his three children and their spouses: Barry C. and Maricarmen, Vivianne and Mauricio, and William and Wendi. Barry is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Jacqueline, Tabitha, Ariana, Odin, Jonathan, Kevin, Aksel, Jessica, Bethany and Hannah.

He was known by his grandchildren as “GrandBarry,” and they were his biggest source of pride. Passing on his legacy of generosity, kindness and perseverance to his beloved grandchildren will be remembered as Barry’s most notable achievement.

Barry has been described as “ahead of his time” in health and wellness, film industry and business. He is remembered by many for his involvement with acting and filmmaking, but he was also active behind the scenes producing and in related businesses.

There are no words to describe how deeply Barry will be missed. In lieu of sending flowers, please send a donation in his name to Habitat for Humanity at habitat.org/support/honor-memorial-gifts.
