James Robert Lovelett, 72, of Kent passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at his residence. He was born in White Plains, NY and grew up in Fairfield, CT. He attended Fairfield Ludlowe High School and Miami-Dade College.

Jim was a star pitcher in high school, setting numerous school records in the process. Afterwards, he went on to pitch for the college team at Miami-Dade, and was scouted by the Yankees. He decided not to pursue a career in baseball, but would become successful in other endeavors.

Jim started out working on Wall Street, when one day he was discovered by a modeling agency who asked him if he would like to get into modeling. He modeled for several years, everything from clothing brands to cruise lines, and everywhere in between. His most publicized ad would have been when he was the Marlboro Man. Afterwards, Jim got into the entertainment industry, specifically as a stuntman. He was busy doing things like jumping off high-rises, being lit on fire, thrown down staircases, and doing barrel rolls in cars for more than twenty-five years. Jim then got into stunt coordinating. Over his time in the industry, he worked on a number of TV shows and films, including Carlito’s Way, Dirty Dancing, Diehard III, Eraser, Ransom, Men in Black and Black Rain, among many others.

Jim loved photography, nature, caring for animals, helping people, taking care of the environment and volunteering his time however he could to help better the community. He was a part of the Appalachian Mountain Club, volunteered for a local farm, made deliveries for a food bank in town, drove seniors to doctor’s appointments, and when he had spare time, he picked up garbage on local roads and trails.

Jim is survived by his beloved daughter, Sarah Lovelett, who he was looking forward to walking down the aisle in September in Lake George, NY, when she will marry her fiancé, Evan Kulhawik. While he will no longer be there in person, he will be walking Sarah down the aisle in spirit and will be looking down from heaven on her wedding day.

Jim also leaves behind his former spouse, Suzanne Lovelett, his brother Toby Lovelett and wife Karen, his brother William Lovelett and wife Melinda, his nieces and nephews, Erin, Danielle, Chris, Heather, Ryan, and Devyn, and many cousins. Jim will also be missed by his close friends Ray and George, as well as many other friends and those whose lives he touched in the Kent community.

Jim is greeted in heaven by his parents William and Gladys Mae, and his brother Ronny Lovelett.

Friends may greet Jim’s family on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield. A Memorial Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 12 p.m. in the parish hall of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1 N. Main St. in Kent. All are welcome.

Memorial donations can be made in Jim’s name to the CT Humane Society at www
