The actor and theater director Abraham Stavans dies
It was his son Ilan Stavans who confirmed the news through his social networks

The actor and theater director Abraham Stavans, who participated in more than 45 plays and almost 30 telenovelas, died on Tuesday night, his son Ilan confirmed through social networks.

Born in 1933 in Mexico City, Stavans began his theater studies in 1949 under the guidance of the directors José de Jesús Aceves and Seki Sano, at the Andrés Soler Institute of the National Association of Actors (ANDA) of which he is a member honorary, at the Actor's Studio in New York and in London, where he studied theater direction.

He made his debut as an actor at the age of 20 with the play "The Five French Beauties" and with "Fire Proof", by Arthur Miller, while as director he began his work with "Cold Storage", 1981, to add more than 45 placed on the theatrical stages as actor and director.

Abraham Stavchansky Altschuler, his full name, also acted on the big screen in "Original Sin" with Antonio Banderas, "License to Kill" in the saga "James Bond", "Die is in Hebrew" and "The Stories of Pancho Villa", among other filming.

As for television, he is remembered for his work in "El Chapulín Colorado", as well as programs such as "Papá soltero", "La cosquilla", "And now Silvia" with Silvia Pinal and "Antojitos mexicanos".

He also acted in more than 25 telenovelas, among them "El vuelo del águila", "Mundo de juguete", "Tres mujeres", "Camila", "Soledad", "Chispita", "Mi querida Isabel", "Rebelde" and "The other".

Another facet of his career is as a teacher, with courses like "Psicoteatro for personal growth" that he taught with his wife Ofelia, besides writing together the book "Psicoteatro. Towards personal growth. " He is survived by his children Ilan, Darien and Liora Stavchansky.
