RIP Lucretia Love

Lucretia Hickerson Luc lived a unique and exotic life. She fearlessly traveled the world with a sparkle in her eye. After humble beginnings in west Texas, she worked with the legendary Cactus Pryor here in Austin. She later became Lucretia Love, a superstar of the stage and screen. She sang danced, acted & skated through Italy & the world.

Lu was born the eldest of 8 on March 25, 1941 in Borger, Texas. She died January 9, 2019 in the Sheychelles, the islands she called home for 3 decades. As Miss Lucy she reinvented herself again, becoming a teacher, artist & community activist primarily concerned with helping women and children. Her non-profit APANA studio produced pottery, glass & paper in efforts to help the locals create sustainable exports. She was preceded in death by husband Mauro Parenti, sister Cynthia & brother Russell. She I survived by husband Baptiste Luc; siblings Helen Nelson, Melanie Hickerson; niece Kim Eitze, & many cousins, nieces, nephews & in-laws.
