Mexican actress Lupita Tovar dies at age 106
After heart complications, she died this Saturday.

The well recognized Oaxacan actress Lupita Tovar, who starred in 'Holy' in 1932, the first Mexican sound movie, died on Saturday to 106 years old .
Natalia Guadalupe Tovar Sullivan, her full name and was born on July 27, 1910 and died at her home in Los Angeles California, said Lucy Tovar, her niece.
She commented to the agency Notimex from her home in El Paso, Texas, which she’ lived for some years, that on July 27 she had partied with her aunt’s 106th birthday, accompanied by her closest relatives, some of whom live in New York, others in Los Angeles, as well as Mexico City.
"The truth is she was already very tired, this morning I spoke to my cousin Pancho and he said she had become more sensitive after complications started last Thursday, especially with her heart."
Lupita Tovar was discovered by American documentarian Robert J. Flaherty, after auditioning in the country attended by a hundred girls, all aspiring to be movie stars.
Flaherty chose her and took her to Hollywood, was her manager in addition and enabled her to become a complete actress by quickly learning English.
Thus it began with small parts in Hollywood’s silent cinema.
It was in 1930 when she jumped to fame with Hispanic versions of Hollywood films , among which were Dracula, after which she returned to Mexico to star under the direction of Antonio Moreno.
