Ilija Ivezic joined the Sibenik National Theatre as an actor in 1955, and the following year founded the Puppet Theatre, which became its first director which initially brought together interested high school students and contributed to creating the nucleus of the future professional puppet theater.  He was one of the initiators and organizers of the first Sibenik Children's Festival

Croatian theater, television and film actor Elijah Ivezić, was one of the only local actors who starred in all films in the Winnetou series, died Thursday April 14, according to the Croatian Society of Film Workers.

Elijah Ivezić appeared in more than 70 film and television roles, mostly as a shrewd, strong willed character. Most of these roles were achieved in the domestic, Croatian films, TV series and TV dramas, and also in several co-production films, as in the famous series "Winnetou" in which he played in eight of the films.

Due to his inner nerve and distinctive physiognomy, directors mainly entrusted him in character roles - the role of villain, but for his realization of these parts he received many awards and great critical acclaim, among colleagues, journalists and the public.

For the title role in "Crazy Days" by Nikola Babic he won the 1977 Great Charter at the Actors' Festival in Nis, and in the title role in "The Golden Age" by Davor Zmegac Great Golden Arena in 1993, and the Golden Arena at the Pula Film Festival 2000, for his leading male role in the film "Marshal" by Vinko Brešan.

Among other things, he starred in the movies "Foxes" and "Redeemer" by Krsto Papic, "Foster 'Vatroslav Mimica," The Pine Tree in the Mountain "by Antun Vrdoljak," The Promised Land "  by Veljko Bulajic.  Notable were his roles in the series "Čovik and" Daniel Marusic, "Velo City" Vanča Kljaković and "Beggars and Sons" by Antun Vrdoljak, and many will remember him for his role as Inspector Petrovic in the series "Smogovci".

Elijah Ivezić was born in 1926 in Gracac and studied acting in Zagreb in 1949. In the beginning of his career he worked in theaters in Zagreb, Split, Zadar and Sibenik, where he achieved thirty roles, and the highest recognition given to the role Grge Čokolina in "Goldsmith's gold".

 In 1960 he moved to Zagreb and starts to work on film, and in 1962 becomes a full member of the Croatian Film Workers, where he became president from 1979 to 1980.  He made his debut in the film "Alphabet of Fear" Fadil Hadzic.

Since 1976, he took up a job as a producer, where he realized a series of documentary films that speak about the Homeland War, the suffering people, especially the suffering of the inhabitants of Lovinačkog.
